A must do in every kitchen: a quick wipe of the counters to take care of any dirt, bacteria, or germs hanging around. But the sponge doesn't always get everything and those brand name wipes will cost you a pretty penny at the store. Here's an easy alternative to keep things clean and save a bit of cash:

Cut a paper towel roll straight through the center. This project is best done with high-quality, thick paper towels.

Squeeze one half into an appropriately-sized Tupperware container. With a little push, it'll all fit.

It should now look like this.

The next step is to mix 350 ml (1.5 cups) of water with 60 ml (1/4 cup) of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol).

Then squirt in a few drops of dish soap to fight grease. Mix everything well.

Pour the mixture slowly over the paper roll.

The paper towels should soak up all of the liquid. It should look like the photo below. Let everything stand for 5 minutes.

Now carefully remove the cardboard roll at the center.

And finished - you'll now always have a wet-wipe at hand. Don't forget to pop the lid on so they don't dry out!

Here's a video going over the steps again:
